I recently moved my family into a new home. It’s not mine, I didn’t buy it, but I still can’t help but feel a sense of pride since it’s definitely the nicest place I’ve ever lived in, which also means it’s the nicest place my sons have ever lived in.
The other day I was sitting outside watching the sunset and counting all the different places I’ve called home over the years. I counted fourteen in all, each of which reminded me of a different phase of my journey so far. I remembered all the obstacles I’ve had to face, the setbacks I had to overcome, and the many mistakes I’ve had to learn from along the way. And while I don’t see myself as anyone special, I couldn’t help feeling rather proud of what I’ve managed to accomplish in my little life so far, while also looking forward to everything I still hope to accomplish in the future.
I bring all this up because as we celebrate the one year anniversary of the eCash brand, it’s hard not to look back on this project’s own journey. A journey that’s also been filled with obstacles, and setbacks, and many learning lessons. But just like me, not only is eCash still standing, it’s continuing to build for a better future.
Maybe this is why I sometimes feel as if betting on eCash is like betting on myself. I’m betting on people who don’t expect to have everything handed to them. People who aren’t just going to give up at the first sign of adversity, or blame others for their mistakes, but take responsibility for their actions. People who are committed to achieving their goals no matter how difficult things get, and no matter what other people might say.
For me this is what the eCash story is all about. It’s about never giving up. It’s about proving your work and doing the right thing, rather than the easy thing. It’s also a story about builders. About passionate people who want to change the world for the better, people who want to make the world more beautiful, more interesting, and more free.
And just as my own journey is far from over, the eCash story is also only getting started. There’s still a long road ahead. There will be times of struggle, and moments of disappointment, but in the same way I’m confident I will do whatever it takes to protect my family, I have faith that the eCash project will do whatever it takes to protect our financial freedom.
As we begin the next chapter in the eCash story, I look forward to continuing the journey together. Let’s build something that inspires future generations to keep the fire burning.
