The POW eToken

What is the ProofofWriting.com (POW) eToken?

In order to answer that, I must figure out exactly what ProofofWriting.com is first. I’m still not sure.

As some of you may know, since late 2017, I’ve been writing on various blogging platforms that were supported by the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) community. There was Yours.org, then Honest.cash, and finally read.cash.

I wrote on those platforms hoping to earn BCH and promote the cryptocurrency I most believed in at the time. But a lot has changed since then. Yours.org switched from BCH to BSV before the site disappeared altogether. Honest.cash lasted about a year before it too died on the vine. And as for read.cash, writing on that platform helped me to realize that I wasn’t writing for the few bucks in tips I would get on each article. I was looking for something more.

I decided what I wanted to do was build something of my own. To create my own brand and experiment with new ideas in order to attract a wider audience. After all, what’s the point of writing if no one reads your work?

The first post on my new site is dated January 3rd of this year, the same date that Bitcoin was born, and each post is meant to be the equivalent of a new block I discover through my own version of proof of work. Hopefully, just like with Bitcoin, the more I write, the easier it will get with the difficulty constantly adjusting down. That’s the idea anyway.

So what’s the purpose of the POW token? For now, it’s merely a way to send people a token of my appreciation for reading my work. I’m not looking for anything in return, just that you continue to read and spread the word if you feel it is warranted. I don’t know if the POW token will ever become anything more than that, but since I’m giving them away, no one can accuse me of trying to take advantage of anybody.

More than anything, I look at all this as just another experiment. Maybe one day I’ll send airdrops to POW holders, or let POW holders redeem them for something else. Who knows what the future holds, but just like crypto, anything’s possible.

The one thing I do know is that I want to keep writing, and I want to get as many people to read my writing as possible.
