On Gratitude, and the future of ProofofWriting.com

Tempo de leitura: 2 minutos

Earlier tonight, we had to give our oldest son a little talk. The whole family had gone out for a bike ride around our new neighborhood, and since the way back was mostly uphill, my son apparently had a hard time. He started pouting as soon as we got home.

We explained to him that if he thought riding his bike a few blocks uphill was hard, he was in for a rude awakening. We also reminded him of how much he had to be thankful for. How he’d been the one who wanted to live somewhere where he could ride his bike freely, and now that he finally could, all he wanted to do was complain.

I don’t know if we really got through to him, but I always see so much of myself in my son I can never get that angry or disappointed in him. I guess it feels a bit like getting angry or disappointed in myself.

Like him, I have a tendency to sometimes overlook the positive and focus on the negative, when in reality I have so much to be grateful for, a lot of which can be attributed to the eCash project.

Sometimes it’s easy to take for granted that eCash wouldn’t even exist if not for the hard work and dedication of the group of individuals who make up Bitcoin ABC, and their commitment to the vision of peer-to-peer electronic cash. Sometimes it’s easy to forget everything they’ve accomplished thus far, and how difficult it is to accomplish something that’s never been done before. Because that’s exactly what they’re trying to do by combining Avalanche consensus with Nakamoto consensus. Like building reusable rockets that can take humans to Mars.

But the eCash project can’t be just about Bitcoin ABC. This is why I’m also grateful to all the people of the eCash community who’ve graced me with your attention. People who have encouraged me, and rooted for me, and spared precious moments from your lives to read the things I have to say.

This is why I’m so excited that soon we will be unveiling a new version of ProofofWriting.com. Something that wouldn’t have been possible if not for certain people behind the scenes, people I’ve never met, or even spoken to, generously volunteering their time to help me because they saw value in my work. And for that I want to publicly say thank you.

Perhaps the most exciting change will be that the new version of the site will finally give me the ability to make my articles available in different languages. This will be done by offering eCash community members a chance to earn XEC for translation work thanks to funding by the GNC with more details to come.

I’m obviously a work in progress, but I guess you could say the same about the eCash project. I still have high hopes for XEC, as well as ProofofWriting.com, which is why I look forward to discovering the next chapter in this journey together.

As always, thank you for reading.
