Planning for Success!

If you’re into crypto, chances are you’ve had fantasies of what it would be like to go to the moon, aka finally achieving financial freedom. I know I have. I’ve dreamed of finally buying our dream home, of not having to worry about the monthly bills, and of course, giving my notice at work.

But how many of us ever think about what we would do with our lives after that? What if you no longer had to work for someone else? If you could spend your time doing whatever you wanted?

Some will probably say they’d just take it easy and enjoy life. Read more. Travel, maybe. Spend more time with their kids, or spend more time on their health.

And while that’s all well and good, I feel like I’ve always been the type of person who needs to have a goal. Something I’m striving for. The sad truth is that so far, I’ve pretty much had one and only real goal my entire life. The goal of making money. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty much been my goal for as long as I can remember. Finish school, find a job, make money.

But what if there came a day when you’ve finally achieved that goal? Sometimes when the lotto gets really big, people at work like to imagine what they would do with all that money, but for me, the question is what would I do with all that time.

And I realized that for me, what I would want to be doing is exactly what I’m doing now. I want to continue writing about eCash, and spreading the word, because I think it’s the very thing that Milton Friedman predicted would soon be developed to help reduce the role of government: a reliable eCash.

I first got into cryptocurrency in 2017, more than six years ago, and it’s been disappointing to see how little the crypto industry has accomplished in all this time. I can’t believe the arguments people in the Bitcoin community are having today. I can’t believe how expensive Ethereum transactions still are. And of course, how little progress we’ve made in actually getting regular people to use crypto.

That’s why if I no longer had to work for someone else, what I’d want to be doing is working for eCash, even if voluntarily.

Steve Jobs famously said, “People don’t know what they want until you show it to them. That’s why I never rely on market research. Our task is to read things that are not yet on the page.”

I want the eCash project to finally show people what it is they really want in a cryptocurrency. By showing them how powerful real electronic cash can be. It’s still early. eCash still has plenty of work left to do. It needs more volunteers, more experts and professionals, more tinkerers, and builders, and anyone else who can see what the team is building before everyone else can see it on the page.

I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t genuinely believe that eCash can one day not only make the world a better place, but change civilization as we know it. Make money, check. Make the world a better place, check. Change civilization as we know it, check. I wonder what comes after that?
